DJW had this tidbit in his report on Democrat Day at the state fair:
So even though Jim Oberweis apparently mucked up Republican Day, the only real way to neutralize the threat of a Republican resurgence in Illinois (and Dan Hynes mentioned that Karl Rove is focused on rebuilding the Illinois GOP) is to personally take responsibility for recruiting more Democratic voters
And then he goes on to say that's us bloggers who need to be recruiting. So anyone have any other tidbits about Rove targeting, or focusing on rebuilding the Illinois GOP?
Here's something from last April/May:
Last month, [April] at a stop outside Chicago, Rove surprised Illinois GOP leaders when he cited the specifics of several state races that have yet to gain national attention and promised to bring in White House officials to campaign on behalf of GOP candidates in the state.
That probably refers to the same thing the Republican website reported by quoting a April 15th Tribune atricle:
(Chicago Tribune )Deputy White House chief of staff Karl Rove urged leaders of Illinois' splintered Republican Party on Thursday to learn from the GOP's national successes last year and work to rebuild itself through a grass-roots voter recruitment effort.
But Rove, the architect of President Bush's White House victories, also warned battling factions of moderates and conservatives within the state GOP that they need to focus on the broader issue of growing the party rather than growing their own ideological divides.
Or there's this Dupage County tidbit:
May 26, 2004
At the Republican State Convention I was honored to be one of Presidential Advisor Karl Rove's greeters. I spent time with former Governor Jim Edgar, National Committeeman Bob Kjellander, and the ever inspiring Mr. Rove.
Karl harped that Illinois has 57,000 unregistered Republican voters. It is our job to register them immediately!
According to Rove, over 14,000 of these non-registered GOP'ers live in DuPage County. That's nearly 20 unregistered Republicans in each of our 730 DuPage County precincts.
Let's get them registered! -Kirk Dillard
But what eles does Dan Hynes know?
